Court and State Mandated Classes

In Coordination with Local Judicial Districts

Hawkeye Community College works with the local judicial districts to deliver court-mandated classes. These are classes that individuals are directed to attend by the courts.

Disclaimer: Hawkeye Community College does not have access to court records; therefore, we do not know which program you are required to attend. It is your responsibility to take the correct program. If you are not sure which one to take, please contact your attorney or the clerk of court office in the county of your arrest. If the wrong class is attended, Hawkeye will not provide a refund or credit.

background

Changes in family structure through dissolution of marriage, custody modification, and remarriage are difficult experiences for a child.

Topics include:

  • Parenting skills for divorcing parents
  • A child's needs and survival techniques
  • Health versus problematic reactions of most kids
  • Age-specific needs of your children
  • Identifying how your child feels

This class is available in-person at our Cedar Falls Center or online through a partner agency. Your county may require prior permission from the court to take the online Children in the Middle option. Please contact your Clerk of Court for more information.

Note: Please arrange for childcare, as children cannot accompany you to the in-person class.
